Position

The role of Supply Chain Manager is twofold; firstly, the SC Manager is responsible for all supply chain and inventory-related activities for SCM Schiedam. Secondly, the SC Manager is responsible for the implementation of the transition to an entirely project-driven organization into the Supply Chain department, which was initiated at the end of 2011.

Accordingly, the Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for all supply chain and inventory related activities of 2-3 major projects with a value of $ 1 billion each.

The Supply Chain Manager will have the overall responsibility for the quality and safety performance of all personnel working in the supply chain department. He/she is able to organize, schedule and supervise all supply chain personnel including project procurement managers, project package managers, buyers, expeditors and administrative personnel. The Supply Chain Manager reviews and approves within authority level, the purchase requisitions. He/she ensures that potential new vendors are approved, identifies long-term relationship partners and the preparation of frame agreements. The Supply Chain Manager will participate in preparing project proposals, project hand-over’s between the sales and operations departments and prepare departmental budgets for the supply chain group. Moreover, the Supply Chain Manager ensures that relevant pricing information is made available to the estimating department. The Supply Chain manager has the expertise required to review the final project reports, prepared by project managers upon completion of the projects and initiate the necessary corrective actions with a view to continuously improve performance.

In order to do so, the Supply Chain Manager will communicate regularly and align with Project Directors/Managers to support project deliverables and will be flexible and practical to allocate resources to meet project needs when, and as needed. The Supply Chain Manager will constantly consider the overall EPC perspective with integrated project teams and take initiatives to meet project deadlines with the overall implications on Engineering and Construction in mind.

Additionally, it is the Supply Chain Manager’s task to transform the Supply Chain Department to a proactive EPC driven organization with real EPC behavior to meet or exceed SBM OFFSHORE’s financial expectations. Therefore, the Supply Chain Manager will seek to change the SC employee’s mind-set, to encourage behaviour that corresponds with the true EPC perspective.

Job requirements

Education

  • Recognized national or international University Engineering degree;

Experience

  • 7-10 years of experience as a Supply Chain Manager related to the offshore oil & gas industry or in project management with major engineering and construction companies;
  • 5-10 years of experience as a change manager;
